Watch NIGHT PHOTOGRAPHY
Your first year starting photography can be eye-opening and utterly life-changing, but it can also be extremely frustrating if you don’t know where to start. I began my journey into photography when I was a junior in high school. I didn’t have anyone to guide me (no one in my family is a photographer) so naturally I made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot of lessons the hard way. Looking back on it now, there are a few key insights that I think every photographer should know before embarking on this crazy journey - and I have compiled a list of them here.
Let's get started! 1. Don’t Try to Do Too Much With One Photograph
It can be tempting to try to create an interesting photograph by throwing multiple elements into the frame, but take a moment to think before you go looking for your sequins, flowers, and paint. Sometimes (actually most of the time) it’s best to keep it simple. There should only be one element of your photograph that really stands out and draws your viewers into the story. People often overwhelmed photographs with too much going on in the background, and they will fail to appreciate your photograph if there are too many details to take in. Before every shoot, think about the story you are trying to tell and envision how you want your photograph to look. This will help you know what to highlight in your photos.
